Thanks to the introduction and continued rollout in all areas of fast broadband internet connections, made possible by the introduction of fiber optic and pulse laser technology, one can now watch new movies online in real time and in high definition. Initially, one was able to watch movies by subscribing to an online organization or business entity website, and download any movie providing it was available. That movie could then be either stored on a personal computer or other suitable device and/or burned to a DVD as part of a library collection.
Now, direct streaming means web consumers can watch streaming movies wherever they have a live internet connection on devices as diverse as personal computers, laptops, iPods and iPhones as well as a multitude of other web enabled devices. However, it isn't just movies which can be watched online and in real time, popular modern TV programs which include but are not limited to Glee, The Sopranos and Heroes are among thousands of modern popular programs and genres available. Include in the mix older more vintage stuff shall we say and the scene is set for the next revolution in entertainment and how we entertain ourselves.
Since the first live internet broadcast by a radio station in November 1994, the internet has, from those first faltering footsteps moved on light years from there to the point where now sitting in front of a TV or going to the movies, while still popular, is in itself going through cataclysmic change and is perhaps going the way of the dinosaur.
The TV is now evolving into becoming an element of the permanent wiring to the internet, and as the way in which our viewing, listening and communicating habits are changing, the industry which brings movies and TV programs to us has to change, evolve and adapt or go the way of the dinosaurs. The rapid advances being introduced in mobile hand held device technology and the emergence of wifi internet connections in virtually every street in the developed world is perhaps the engine which is driving the change, or maybe the change is because of the two - time will tell.
Comedy, drama, documentary, reality and sci-fi are among a few of the genres of TV programs one can watch live on a PC or other internet connected device, as are new release movies, old favorites and cult classics. Currently one can watch new movies online and TV favorites from the past ten years or so, and as we speak the list is constantly being added to, all available for viewing at the website of Pass Play; the address for all info and to start watching is
